The paper addresses the following questions:
What is Quantum Management and why is it needed for New Paradigm applications in business?
What are its foundations in theoretical and applied science? For example, how do the Double-Slit and Bell Theorem experiments in quantum physics offer important insights for managers?
How can experiential practices of connectedness, also referred to as direct-intuitive practices, elevate a person’s consciousness? Why is transforming consciousness the highest point of leverage for scaling positive impact businesses?
Abstract
Quantum Management brings to light the power of direct-intuitive practices—such as meditation, nature immersion, and countless others—to transform a leader’s consciousness as the highest point of leverage for entrepreneurial creativity embedding social purpose. Layered on top of such practices are insights from quantum physics and related disciplines that offer a radically different view of organizational life. Such insights help managers understand how direct-intuitive practices work to change a person at the deepest level of their identity.
Direct-intuitive practices give managers an experience of wholeness that heightens their awareness of how their actions impact others and the world. Such awareness leads managers to pursue business as a force for good not only because of the analytic business case for it, which remains important, but because of who they are being. Recent developments in science inform their experience by re-framing their understanding of the nature of reality.

About the Author
Chris Laszlo is Professor of Organizational Behavior at Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management, where he researches and teaches flourishing enterprise. He is author of Quantum Leadership (2019), Flourishing Enterprise (2014), Embedded Sustainability (2011), and Sustainable Value (2008), all from Stanford University Press. In 2012, he was elected a “Top 100 Thought Leader in Trustworthy Business Behavior” by Trust Across America™. He is a member of the International Academy of Management and incoming Chair of the Management, Spirituality, and Religion (MSR) Interest Group at the Academy of Management.

Positive-impact companies: Toward a new paradigm of value creation – Science Direct
By Ignacio Pavez, Lori D. Kendall, Chris Laszlo. The increasingly visible effects of climate change, the degradation of ecological systems, growing income inequality, and high levels of stress and disengagement in the workplace have dramatically increased corporate awareness of the need for integrating sustainability into business strategy. However, the focus of this awareness has largely emphasized finding ways to reduce the firm’s harmful impact from “bad” to “less bad” (e.g., when a company cuts its CO2 emissions by 50%). While this helps firms be less unsustainable, it diverts their focus from creating a more flourishing world, a place where people everywhere live in healthy communities, prosper, and can live life to the fullest. We propose that it is time for leaders to shift their thinking, and for companies to refocus their efforts, from reducing harm to making a positive impact, which we define as increasing economic prosperity while contributing to a healthy regenerative natural environment and improving human well-being.
