Public Announcement regarding Ervin Laszlo and his current state of Health and Wellbeing

Jun 15, 2026 | News

We take this opportunity to let you know about Ervin, how he is doing, and the conditions surrounding his healthcare.

Ervin turned 94 in June and is generally in good health for his age but has recently experienced a decline in his strength that is affecting all aspects of his being, including his physical, mental, and emotional stability. These are currently quite weak and he has therefore taken in at a residential care facility near where he lives in Tuscany to monitor his overall wellbeing and undergo appropriate therapy to regain his strength.

There is nothing to worry about regarding his condition in general, but there are some concerns with which we wish to ask your patience, understanding, and cooperation.

As is well known, we are a close-knit family and this has allowed us to move together quickly in order to find ways to help both Ervin and Carita in the current situation. We found a lovely elder care facility close to where the two of them live. There are nurses, doctors, physical therapists, nutritionists and a competent and attentive support staff, all of whom constantly check on his health and engage him in exercises to help him regain strength. There are also professional assistance companions who help him with everyday activities in coordination with Carita, who is able to visit and stay with him every day. The goal is for him to regain his strength.

The medical team has strongly recommended not to generate stressful situations for Ervin at this time. The Director of the center has made clear his mandate to provide his patients peace and quiet and time to regain strength both physically and mentally. The primary physician in charge of Ervin’s health and wellbeing also emphasized the importance of not having anyone disturb him so as not to jeopardize his rehabilitation.

Accordingly, we wish to let you know that Ervin will not be seeing anyone outside of his immediate family and his assigned healthcare professionals for the next month or two. We understand that he is respected and loved by his colleagues and friends and we deeply appreciate the care and concern expressed for him, but for the time being we must ask you to give him space to heal and recover his strength.

Please know that he is not alone. Aside from his wife Carita who visits him every day, he receives frequent calls as well as in-person visits from the rest of his family. And even though you might feel the need to see him or talk to him now, we respectfully but firmly request that you honor our wish to allow him no visitors by phone or in person during this time. Thank you for understanding that this is family-only time. We will let you know when he is stronger and more able to entertain interaction with others once again.

We are sure that all your love and positive thoughts will find him and help him get stronger. Indeed, together we will strengthen the field of love and coherence that surrounds, supports, and infuses him.

Thank you for understanding and support,

Carita (wife), Christopher (son), Alexander (son), Lakshmi (daughter-in-law), and Valeria (daughter-in-law)
